Anyway I'm introducing myself, and such.
I am overwhelmed with joy that I stumbled upon the original gamesas Website and forum/community!
Unfortunately, the first Fallout game I ever played was Fallout 3 by Bethesda... I'm sad because I would have loved to play number 1 first.
When I played number 1 I was annoyed with the resolution on my 24" monitor, so I installed some community mods from over at 'No Mutants Allowed', those guys sure have their forum for sure!
I'm glad to have found an official forum!
I'm Australian, I am 18 and I'm a hardcoe VideoGame lover!
I love games such as, obviously, Fallout, Arcanum, Blizzard's Diablo 1-2, Black-Isles Baldur's Gate, etc.
I also have a soft spot for MineCraft and sometimes Call of Duty 4, but I haven't bought a new game in a long time, and I'm sticking with my dusty old copy of Fallout.
Ever since I was 13, I have wanted to make games.
I was inspired by Bethesda's Oblivion (don't rage at me), so I made up tonnes upon tonnes of designs, sketches, ideas and crappy 13 and 14 year old drawings of my own fantasy world, at the time I had never heard of Dungeons and Dragons, but I played paper RPGs with my friend Toby and so for days on end.
My first game was a (according to Tim Cain xD) a "Gurps Everything", I had not heard of Gurps or anything, but essentially my game involved a fantasy world complete with space ships, laser/plasma/tesla elements and weaponry, Each planet was a god and... well I'm rambling now... the game was called ''Apocrypha''
Old and gone now... as memories.
Today, 18 and facing responsibility of the world, I am doing game-design independently, I am absolutely packed with ideas and inspiration.
When I first began programming at 15 I was absolutely horrid at maths, and still am.
I was good at english, syntax was my grammar and scripts were my poetry it seemed after a while.
Now I have a decent understanding of basic programming/scripting using inbuilt scripting engines.
Such as 'Game-Maker's GML', I am also really good now after years of learning it, 'picking out code syntax'
I had a look at some Java and in half hour I worked out how the class system works for a hierarchy and it blew my mind, I guess it's because it's object based coding.
Now ironically I am only decent at english and maths! But now I am good at logic and learning how things should be coded and designed.
I'm in the process of setting up a fantastic website for artworks and designs, for everything, just you wait!
My dream is to be a great game designer, aspiring to someone like Chris Condon or Tim Cain.
I doubt I'll ever be that known, but I aim for the stars! :s
Almost out of school now, I know I've given you my life story, but I needed a post or so to get accepted, I really look forward to perhaps meeting the design team behind gamesas...
Heck, who knows... maybe I'll work with people like you one day!
If anyone cares... xD here's some of my works.
