Yeah I need one too, lets see what they suggest and I'll see if it's in my range.

I used to have an SDTV and Oblivion wasn't bad on it, the menus where nice and big and everything was readable, but I'm not sure if it will be the same for Skyrim, the text in the menus are looking a little smaller this time, I suggest you get a new TV, not just for this game but for every other game, its pretty much a requirement at this point since some games don't run in 4:3 anymore so your left with black bars and the text is sometimes too small to read, those who played arcania gothic 4 in sd know.

You don't need anything crazy since consoles only run in 720p, any cheap tv will do, you can get an hd flatscreen as low as 200 bucks up to 34". I picked up a Sony Bravia earlier this year and its just been incredible, and its nice to be able to play all my games in that resolution.

I've been looking at the vizio 32" its under 300 dollars which is reasonable. but I also know that walmart usually has super sales on hdtvs during the holiday season

I have a 32" HDTV in my room, so everything looks really nice. Just make sure you also get an HDMI cable, don't use the regular connection cables the xbox comes with.

Sitting closer to your tv won't improve the quality of the image at all and actually it's more likely that it'll give you headaches or eye irritation.

I don't have much to add what has already been said except that I recommend you look for a LED tv if possible. LED tvs spend less electricity and give you a clearer image with better contrast. (At least they usually give you a better image... unless you're comparing the tv to a high end LCD)

Haha, slightly upgraded Gamebryo, beautiful

I play my 360 on a PC monitor. Works the best for me.

If you look closely at the Skyrim videos and screens that have been released so far then you can easily see the similarities between the new Creation Engine and the Gamebryo engine (The modified version that BGS used).

My guess is that the BGS programmers used Gamebryo as a model for the new engine so they could work in a familiar environment. I'm not saying that Creation inherited the flaws in Gamebryo but there are definitely similarities.

It makes sense when you think about it. It's extremely difficult to change engines in the middle of the development cycle and since they had a lot of experience with Gamebryo and it's predecessor (NetImmerse, which they used for Morrowind) so they probably thought it would be a lot easier to create something they could easily adapt to; something similar.

This is all just guesswork of course.

I've got an old SDTV. It takes a few minutes from everything to stop looking green, and occasionally the picture will waver and stutter, but after you hit it it's usually fine.
Christmas is coming up so no new TV for me - if it finally craps out though everyone will be getting smellies and cigarette lighters for presents.

I'm gonna be using the same LCD TV I bought when I had Oblivion in 2007, oh what romance! :hugs:

If you look closely the screen even got permanent marks of the discovery channel logo and the norwegian football league table from round 14 or something  Its only visible when the screen is black if you consentrate alot on the screen so it's not really an issue.

I just got a 42" Vizio two days ago and it's amazing. Now, I can't say much about the differences between SD and HD with a 360 and Skyrim (as I don't own a 360 and of course Skyrim is not out yet), but with a PS3 and Infamous 2, the differences are night and day in my opinion.

I played like 2 weeks on my TV without using the HD thing, so I basically played SD all the time when I could have played in HD! My friend helped me back then and I played Dead Rising and Oblivon (because those were the cool games back then, jk.) and the difference were MASSIVE! I am positive that Skyrim on Xbox360 on a SD TV will look pretty much worse than with a HD TV. Still it's not exactly unplayable on SD, I did it for a while
