Errr Team Fortress 2 & Quake Wars stop bashing on Brink

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 2:55 pm

on the IGN review of brink i think most people are hesitant about buying brink now cause all the hate! Whats really annoying me is everyone comparing TF2 to Brink. I mean seriously the only reason ppl said TF2 was anything like brink was the classes...everything else is NOTHING a like. Same goes with all the people on SD forums... don't even get me started... all these Quake War [censored] err rlly annoys me also... i mean there are haters on every game... especially Battlefield vs COD although that dosnt make people hesitant about buying the game because there both huge successful franchises in the game industry. But its fine there are haters i mean some people like the game some people don't like it but as far as brink goes theres a huge blob of hate. Sure the IGN review has 1000 dislikes and only 2000 likes on a review of brink that got a 6.0 but there are some many people saying stuff like this (as copied from an IGN review top comment):

"Reasons you should get Team Fortress? 2 over this [censored] game:
-More maps
-More Classes
-More Weapons
-Bigger community
-More Players per map (24 players in TF2 compared to 16 players in Brink)
-Better graphics
-The developers continue to add new weapons/maps, even after 4 years
-It's FREE
TF2 did everything that Brink tried to do...and better."

This is a big problem. I really don't know what to say besides all these haters are scaring the people away! this is why no one plays brink... ethier there friends told them the game svcks, they saw the bad reviews and all the people saying it svcks and didnt buy it or everyone saying this game is better don't buy that game... I just hope brink makes a sequel to brink and makes everyone take what they said back and go out and buy the game themself... because this really annoys me

People hate on Brink because the game shipped out in terrible condition with little content and the demo from a year before at e3 looked better than what we got.
the game had many issues that was just unbelievable for it to have a year delay (in other words what did they have as a product a year before release?). Nobody is being scared away, they just came to the conclusion that the game was bad and moved on. new IPs have to be solid for them to get into the bigger market, TF2 just happened to be its bigger competition since Brink was going after the non-cod/bf fans. its a shame Brink didnt do better, since i was really excited for it (its my biggest disappointment this year). Brink has its fans, just like every game and every game has its haters. Brink just has more haters due to it having such a poor launch and not trying to acquire the cod/bf fans.

Sure i had high expectations for this game although all i was disappointed about was the [censored] A.I. the lack of single player and the lag but the lag was fixed the A.I. dont really matter anymore cause i play online with real people and games like battlefield 1943 have no single player but its still a great game... its just the dev's made the single player seem like it was gonna be an epic story with an epic ending but they played it safe with the ending and can basically do whatever they want with it... have a 3rd faction... have more people who need places to stay... or may attack them. But i think its mostly the fact that there is a campaign and such a great idea makes you want to have epic campaign that didn't happen. I think the multi-player is where its at and the lag is fixed so not much to complain about now. But they continue to bash it even know brink is unlike any other game.

As iv stated before I have NEVER had a major problem with the game.... half the glitches people have gotten I have never had... the game gave me what I wanted: a fast paced objective shooter that involves more than pointing and shooting...
and to most of the reasons people say TF2 is better are some of the reasons I don't like the game... there is no really good way to get better weapons than to buy them or just be naturally beast at the game (which I'm not)

Eight, you really should just save yourself the trouble of always trying to defend the game. Just kinda shrug and go, "Well, it's not that bad. I like it."

I mean, the game did have it's problems, but the real shame is was the amount of time it had and still came out like this. I know it's not mainstream or super funded, but usually the passion in the game more then makes up for that... Don't think the love was all here for Brink.

i cant watch the review since i dont have sound where im at, but since i kno of him and hes a big pc player i take it he praised it? ill point you to these guys for a console review which pretty much explain my gripes (and friends gripes) about the game:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhrJI1dKtb4 (he does complain about grenades lookin weak and not doing anything, but he didnt use the soldier or really understand some of the ideas behind brink)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwZThgE1nnE

@OP see you just pointed out the big flaws with the game and for $60 thats not going to go well for gamers specially since it took them forever to patch the game. the fact is the game was unfinished or just a poor product for what it could have been, and games like that will have a lot of hate towards them specially if they built up alot of hype. so in other words, theres no reason to complain about complainers since the game wasnt that great and those that think it is great will the be the few that do enjoy it (and good for them).

yeah as i fig, Brink is just better game on pc than console. as for my reviewers, joe is pretty good but hes a bit simple minded about a few things but i think he gives the fairest scores out of most reviewers that gives scores calls out issues with games that some reviewers just pass over. ZGR usually just loves games in general unless there are obvious issues with the game, which there were plenty with Brink on the 360.

I think the brilliance about Joe is that he'll call out that he may be giving it too much or too little based on his preferences and experience. He doesn't just say it's empirically bad or good.

As for your point on more maps and weapons that is because TF2 has been out MUCH longer than Brink and Valve is much better than Bethesda.

I play both brink and TF2, enjoy em both. The negative reviews are left right and center, SD/Beth never helped nothing either. Even at gamestop guy in there was telling me how [censored] Brink was, and went as far to respond to my comment of "in your opinion" with "No its just [censored]...stat".
Now with BF3, MW3 out Brink doesn't really have much of a chance to get any further than it has, even with the upcoming clan add-on (can't wait ^^) people weren't ready for this game IMO, especially those who are obsessed in KDR etc. People would sooner play mind numbing death-match simple as.
As for me i love the game, kinda peeved that we most likely wont ever get new abilities/clothes and maps, which put a short life span on the clan thing, cuz people will get bored.

As for TF2 i enjoy the game but didnt really enjoy their lil money making weapon/item shop thing. Prefer an equal killing ground, that's why i don't like mmo/rpg's most money usually wins
