It is possible that Doom 4 will be a remake of Doom II, or will otherwise be set on Earth. Todd Hollenshead has made a statement which arguably supports this speculation. The comment was as follows: "Doom is part of the id Software DNA and demands the greatest talent and brightest minds in the industry to bring the next installment of our flagship franchise to Earth".[8] i would really like to see Doom 4 go back to the old school days but with modern graphics. that would be awesome

Imagine:
You enter a huge dark room. All of a sudden the lights go on, and the walls open up and massive amounts of monsters start attacking you from all sides.. Mayhem and carnage breaks out. Hell yeah. Like good old Doom 2. Cannot wait.

See, Todd Hollenshead has confirmed it will be on Earth. John Carmack has confirmed there will be tons of monsters. He said that because of the tons of monsters, Doom4 will run at only 30fps in singleplayer, instead of 60.
