Stronghold 3

Anyone tried this or planning on getting it?

I've been interested in this game for a while now, but now that it's out it seems to be getting rather disappointing reviews. Feedback on the Steam forums in particular seems overwhelmingly negative... but then... the Steam forums are notorious for whiners (RO2 was heavily criticised even though it's the best FPS to come along in years).

With so many other great games out over the next month or so, i'm not sure whether I should give this one a miss. I trust the members of this forum considerably more than those on the Steam forum, so please, share your own opinions on the game.

I’ve played them all (But 3). I haven’t played much attention to this on surprisingly.

Though with so many game releases I'm going to sit back and read more about the game.

I'm just waiting until a review is released. Depending on the reception I might or might not get it, although so far it doesn't sound all that overwhelmingly good.

Edit: Nevermind. I found one.

Stronghold was insanely fun but you could easily cheat.

Never played SH2 because of the reviews.

If SH3 is out on Steam, I just might have a go.

In the first one, I loved how all the NPCs would talk crap to you while you played them until you started overwhelming them, then it would get really funny. The voice acting was so awesome!

Ok, d/l the game and played a few missions and the tutorial. The game feels really unfinished.

There are drawings for the cut scenes between missions. The indicators of win/lose, you know where it actually counts up your score, don't display. My score has actually been 0 even though I've won every missions. There are pathing problems where your troops will just get stuck....in the middle of the map.....they just can't move. They'll sit there doing nothing while their comrades get killed right next to them. They'll be getting attacked and won't defend themselves. You try to right click on an enemy to make them attack and they just sit there doing nothing while their health goes so low they die.

I completed the tutorial twice but it wouldn't end and flag it that I've already completed the mission. Oh well, didn't matter. I was only playing it to see what was different about the game since the last one I'd played.

I don't know what's up with this game but it feels REALLY unfinished for $45 or so....but still....it's not all that bad.

Now the good - it's stronghold!!! With 3D objects, industries, the same fun voices of the people in the game, and the build trees like you used to know and love. It looks good but it's running kind of slow, I'm not sure if it will allow me to speed up the game later or if I just need to figure out the key combinations to do this but it's like it's stuck in slow motion.

Anyways, if you can afford it and like the series, then buy it and hopefully help support the game studio so they'll be motivated to release patches and new content. If not, then wait for the price to drop because so far, they haven't really broken any new ground but I'm really early into the game.

Bought the game of off Steam for 49.99 euro. I can't say im pleased at all.. But i guess that's what comes around when you don't read any reviews etc before you dip your wallet in it.

The only thing i look forward to in these kinds of games is the Skirmish mode, which wasn't around in SH3, sadly. The missions seem impossible to finishs, and i didn't really get the feeling "This is my castle, i can do whatever the frack i want with it", which is sad..

4/10 because it's still a Stronghold game.
