Avatar Troubles and Accepting Friends!

Post » Wed Nov 30, 2011 9:33 am

Hi, everyone... I'm a little reluctant to make a thread just for this reason, but I seemed to notice that my avatar doesn't want to change from where it is now. It is odd because in the profile settings, under change avatar, it shows the new image that I uploaded but it still displays my previous one everywhere else. I've tried to play around with it to see if it changes... like removing the image then uploading a new one, but that doesn't seem to help either. I am also having trouble with my friends list. I had it set to "approve friends" as I didn't really want people to just add me as a friend out of the blue... but for the couple requests that I did have, after I approved them, they failed to show on my friend's list and they still have not been updated. It isn't a big deal, as people can still add me without my settings set to approve first, but it is a little annoying.

Anyway, I'm sorry if there is a technical help forum somewhere, but I didn't see one... I didn't know where else to put this, so I thought that this would be the most appropriate place to put it. I'm wondering if this is just on my end? And if so, am I just being dumb and failing to realize that there is indeed a way around this issue? Or is anyone else having similar issues, and if you are, have you been able to fix it? If it is a bug on Bethesda's part... then maybe there really should be a technical help forum! That is, if I'm not missing it completely.

Again, the issues aren't really that important, as I can definitely post with the avatar I have and I recognize that this isn't necessarily a social club, so the friend's list issues aren't that important either, but I was just wondering if anyone could possibly clarify what exactly is going on here? o.o

It usually takes a while for the avatar to update. I don't know about the friends list issue, it might take a while to update as well.

It takes over a day and a half to update? That is... a nightmare. o.o

Thank you for the reply, though, it is much appreciated. :)

Also, I realize this isn't a very popular thread, but I was wondering - if you're still around - how long does it take for avatars to load for you? Or do you know? I suppose someone who doesn't change their avatar wouldn't really know, though...

Your purple text is burning my eyes. I can't comment on the OP because I can't read it.

Check your monitor, because other people don't seem to have an issue with it. And if they do, at least they're being nice about it...

Just be glad I'm not using
this color. Or God forbid, this one... o.o

My avatar updates instantly.

Lucky!!

And the irony of this all is that my avatar JUST changed... wow, that is SO weird. Anyway, I may still be having issues with the friend's list... but again it's not that important. We shall see... o.o

Purple is my favourite colour. I have purple DC shoes.

But Nami is right. It's common forum courtesy to not eye-[censored] people's retina. It is hard to read and it's not really something people will bother checking up on. Most people will just ignore your posts, when they see such blatant disregard for peoples want to read normal text.

It's not the monitor, it's just that it contrasts. Some people (Including myself) find it hard to read. I'm sure it won't kill you to type in the same color as everyone else, eh?

It's true too, people are likely to just ignore any post that is even slightly harder to read then normal.

I really didn't know people use the black forum board. I thought we all formed a consensus and agreed that it was too slow and had too many transparencies?

I use the IP board, and its fine.

Then why is the option there? :stare:

What forum style are the rest of you using. I'm using the default black-with-Dovakhiin-in-the-background and the purple is kind of nice, I'd say.

It's not slow for me. IP board is too bright and cheery...

I'm using default black with the tan parchment background. So default.

Runs perfectly fine for me.

Maybe it's in higher contrast on this particular backdrop color, but thankfully, in that case, I don't really post here. Sorry for the inconvenience, everyone!! But unless Bethesda throws out purple text, then it stays for me... yes, that may be extremely rude from a certain perspective, but I can deal with people thinking I'm a horrible individual or ignoring my posts entirely if it means I get to post in purple!

Mine isn't slow at all.

Ok. So you have a gun 12 feet from you. Because it can kill someone, do you start shooting people with it? Most forums are pre-made, with different designs and styles. Then companies purchase which they want. While alot of communities make their own, the option for colours is there, same with different formatting options, incase you need them.

Would you like to read a 4000 word post that had strikeout?

Colours are there, more or less to help format, same with all the other tools. But because it's there, doesn't mean you should go nuts with it and plaster it all over. It can add a nice personal touch to signatures, or highlighting words you want to add emphasis to, but that's about it.

It's not slow for me. IP board is too bright and cheery...

Bwaha. I just like it because it's not a solid-black with white text. So even reading walls of text isn't bad, and it's not pure white for text.

And if you're just going to be inconsiderate to the people you ask help from, i'm just going to black-list all your topics. Have a nice day.

Firefox for me, I don't see why that matters how much the purple bothers me though.

Also, isn't this rather off-topic? The original question has already been answered after all. So last post by me here.

I've ad-blocked the background so it's just black :D

There appears to be a bug of some sort with the friends list in this version of the forum software, especially if you've had it set to "approve" at some point: I've seen the same thing happening elsewhere, too. We'll just have to hope it's fixed in the next release.

The purple-on-black look hurts my eyes too! Does anyone else get this sort of colour separation going on when looking at purple-coloured light or is that just one of my peculiarities...?

I didn't even know there was a setting for friends. I wonder if that means I don't have any. :sadvaultboy:

And with my particular color blindness, your text is extremely 3D for me. It hurts, but it's all good. Down with conformity.
