University of New Mexico safety Deshon Marman (City College of San Francisco represent!) was arrested on Wednesday for wearing his pants too low as he boarded a commercial flight at San Francisco International, refusing a flight attendant’s request to pull them up.

(Cliche and old? Yes I know)

The way I feel about it is this:

Even if the young man was being treated unfairly, even if he is going through a tough time, even if he has a valid point he should still have the clout to assess the situation and understand what his actions will result in. I would have much more respect if he followed the orders, made a formal complaint about the crew and pilot of the airplane profiling him and creating an unpleasant trip. There is a time and a place for fighting for your rights but essentially this was neither the time or the place.

In a post 9/11 United States flying on an airplane is serious business. If the crew of the airplane dislike something about you (whether you think it's fair or not) and ask you to change it and you defy them then things are going to get ugly and you better bet it's going to end in your arrest, which he also resisted.
