Going to get myself a DS

Post » Wed Nov 30, 2011 7:22 pm

As I look at my handhelds, I realize they're quite dated, and with recent capital gains, I'd like to change that. But, I do not really know which DS games are must haves or really good buys. As such, I call upon the people of the BGSF to suggest which are some really good DS titles, and if possible, why.

Also, should I get the 3DS, or get an older model?

If it's in your budget get the 3DS, you'll be able to play DS games and 3DS games. If you go the 3DS route buy Ocarina of Time and/or Street Fighter.

Unless there are some 3DS games that you must have, I'd probably just go with a DS Lite. Much longer battery life at a fraction of the price, perfect for making your way through that DS library while you wait for a 3DS price drop, redesign and better lineup of games.

Go with the 3DS. There's going to be a new revised Devil Survivor for it, Overclocked. I was planning on getting the one for DS but now I think I'll wait until I get a 3DS, and I still have other games I haven't played yet.

I'd go with a Lite, they're pretty cheap now. If you have GBA games, the Lite is the last model you can play them on; if not there are tons of good GBA games too you can check out.

I wouldn't recommend Animal Crossing either, that game is creepy as hell. :bolt:

I would recommend the Phoenix Wright games though, lots of fun to be had.

I only found the Edgeworth one atm, and I'm out of expendable funds for the next month. Going to have to keep my eye on eBay for a while it seems.

The Dragon Quest Monsters series is akin to Pokemon (although certainly not just clones), so it sounds like the game for you. :P Also, DQM: Joker 2 was just announced for North America a few days ago, set to release this August.
