'Discoverability' the new trend that is transforming publish

putting it in the public domain or under a CC license doesn't stop you from talking about your writing, it also doesn't stop you from selling it (Fred Gallagher gives away his comic for free online, but has sold 80k+ physical copies), but public domain and CC are far better ways of being heard than some locked down license. You can also track downloads/views instead of sales.

Is the copyright there as well? If so I might check that out. Doesn't hurt to explore all avenues.

Question, why do you think POD is a locked down liscense? The POD I went through distributes the book for two years and I can renew after that but I never lose any of the rights. However, online retailers such as amazon do take a bit of the pie. However, any books I sell myself I get all the monies minus the cost to print the book. As far as the ownership of the work, I retain that and can do with it how I please. Anyway, I feel comfortable with the POD so I'm not about to change. If I fail I fail. If I succeed then even better but at least I'll feel comfortable in the process.

Besides I've met my goals.

Sold some books
Learned about the industry
Threw my name out there
Had fun
Found an outlet for my angst which greatly helps as a person
Most Importantly: Made some friends
