How the [censored] does [censored] like this end up on the radio? What happened to having any sort of talent at all? Gods, I hate pop music.
I think i remember hearing Frank Zappa once say that there is a kind of bottle-neck in the music industry, a bottle-neck represented by the people who choose what kind of music gets listened to, they decide what they feel popular music should be and thats that, music they feel won't be bought on masse just doesn't get heard, so the good stuff stays n the shadows because it is deemed to be "not economically viable".
Funnily enough, he also said that he found it easier to get the old duffers in suits to take a risk on new, different music than the cool hipsters that thought they knew what people wanted, because the old guys would just ask "will it make me money?" Zappa would nod yes and they'd often take the risk, but the younger "hip" dudes thought they had the universal truth on what makes good music, so their personal taste, their "bottle-neck" was the only stuff that got heard once they took over from the old guys at the music corporations.
I miss Zappa, his music was kind of odd and a bit hit and miss, but he was an interesting person to listen to.
