If you'd have said this song was sung by a member of "Glee", and was about to hit number 1, I'd have believed you. It's not my thing, but it doesn't sound much worse than other songs out there.
The only thing that struck me was that it's maybe a bit too early for a song that seems so boastful - she's only known for having a bad song after all. If I was her I'd wait to sing something like that after I'd actually proved myself.

How the [censored] does [censored] like this end up on the radio? What happened to having any sort of talent at all? Gods, I hate pop music.

I think i remember hearing Frank Zappa once say that there is a kind of bottle-neck in the music industry, a bottle-neck represented by the people who choose what kind of music gets listened to, they decide what they feel popular music should be and thats that, music they feel won't be bought on masse just doesn't get heard, so the good stuff stays n the shadows because it is deemed to be "not economically viable".

Funnily enough, he also said that he found it easier to get the old duffers in suits to take a risk on new, different music than the cool hipsters that thought they knew what people wanted, because the old guys would just ask "will it make me money?" Zappa would nod yes and they'd often take the risk, but the younger "hip" dudes thought they had the universal truth on what makes good music, so their personal taste, their "bottle-neck" was the only stuff that got heard once they took over from the old guys at the music corporations.

I miss Zappa, his music was kind of odd and a bit hit and miss, but he was an interesting person to listen to.

While the song blows I love the message of "[censored] all you [censored]s who thought I couldn't be famous, I'm better than you". I approve of her trolling the music industry, it seems that she is aware that she is doing this now.

talent is expensive. why don't you think the disney channel of all things pumps out a new pop star/group every year that are popular for reasons other than their musical talent?

Dont know who that is, but when it comes to female artists, I go with the chicks that have an 80s vibe, like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sxhyyUsXFM. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_bFO1SNRZg

I was half watching ( you know when you're on your laptop, listening to a show and glance over every 15 minutes? ) Doctor Phil today and it was about cyber bullying. Rebecca Black has to be a pretty ballsy chick ( hopefully not literally ) to release another song after what she put up with.

I'm sorry but I chuckled :P

I agree, though the song is kinda about that, in a "Ha I'm famous now!" kinda way.

You know the saying "the best things come in twos"? Well, in Brazil it's "the best things come in threes." I'll let you figure out the rest.

I saw a video where she sang acapella and while her voice isn't anything stupendous, it wasn't horrible.
The main problem as I see it is that whoever is picking the songs for her is doing her no favors. Of course, this is from someone (me) who doesn't typically like this type of song/music-style, no matter who is singing it. ;)

well my thoughts on pop stars (does she classify as a star yet?) when I have taken a step back and not so reactionary is acknowledgment that even though I hate rebecca black's music and others like justin beiber I can't really sing or have any more talent than them.

what specificly bothers me is that music standards today is more about publicity and image rather than the actual musical/lyrical talent and I come from a musical background.

Well, it's not as bad as Friday. In fact it's almost as good as most pop music you'll find out there. Which isn't saying much, but still.
