Marketplace for old games (90s, 80s etc)

Post » Sun Dec 04, 2011 11:15 pm

Someplace like Steam where I can download old PC games (even old text adventures, don't mind ) straight from the website for no nominal fee? You know, games that were once good like in the 90s and before that?

Because, I'd be happier if there was a site that had a wide variety of old games ready for download; saves me scouring Ebay for hours.

Also, what would be the easiest way to get old games to run on a Vista based PC?

Depends on how old it is. DOS games can be run through an emulator called DOSBox, while Windows games... well, some of them work, and others just won't depending on their hardware requirements (although some will still work in compatibility mode despite this.) In my experience about 90% of old games will still run in Vista, or can be made to run with sufficient tweaking under the hood.

If it's on Good Old Games, though, it should be updated enough to run in Vista.

I've looked at GoG, but all the prices seem to be in dollars  Does setting up an account mean you can set the region to UK and it'll be in pounds?
