Worst game ported to the 360

The 360 version of Risen is a complete mess. I can look past graphics to a certain extent, if the game's good but they're abysmal and if you're not playing in 1080i/1080p connected with a HDMI cable - forget it, the game will be so dark that you'll have proplems seeing anything and text will be difficult to read too and the way they configured the controler is terrible, maybe it's just me but it seems that they went out of their way to make the controls as alien as possible, I just couldn't get to grips with it and compound that with the fact that the games combat is tough, didn't make for an enjoyable experience.

I'm now playing the PC version and even with my crappy Radeon 5450 graphics card it still looks 10 times better and it'll be improved on even more tomorrow when my new graphics card arrives. I'm even playing using a 360 controler which I've configured myself, although there's nothing wrong with the keyboard and mouse set up.

PC to console ports can be horrendous, but I've mostly noticed that console to PC ports suffer the most.

I'm concerned about this because I wanted to go for the PS3 version of Risen 2... and the PS3 should be far more alien to any PC developer than the 360. With all the bad things I've heard about the 360 version of Risen... I'm doubtful, though.

I found the combat mechanics to be horrendous even on the PC. Hated the game. But maybe I just svcked at it.

Still, Risen 2 is looking decent for now.... not enough pirate games these days.

My advice with European RPGs in general, is to get the PC versions, they're usually vastly superior. The exception would be Lionhead Studios (Fable), whether you like their style of RPG or not the games look amazing on the 360.

I bought Risen when it first came out on PC from Steam. I liked it. However it had horrible DRM, and their support was even worse.

There is a bit of a learning curve but it should eventually click for you, unless you play on the 360 then you'll have real problems :swear:

I'm using a 360 controler, which I've configured, using Pinacle Game Profiler, it works great and I have the controler set up how it should have been on the 360.
