Enter key just stopped working. :(

My enter key just stopped working - right now. I haven't done anything different. Why's it just stopped? Anyone know of a way to fix it? I've got a laptop, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance for any advice. :(

Try turning your computer off and back on.

Hi Chineapplepunk! How are you? :)

Anyway, if there's a small space under the key, try twirling the corner of a tissue and cleaning it out. If there's something stuck under there, it might be the cause of your problem. Or try pressing it at different points, or using different pressures. Kinda like the advice they gave me when I asked how to pleasure a... nevermind... What I was saying was, yeah, keep trying to make it work. Also be sure it's the key that's not working. Sometimes you press something like numlock or whatever, and it messes stuff up. Try pressing all those buttons up top, near the screen of the laptop. Also, how old is the laptop? It is possible that it simply went kaput.

I hope this helps! :D

Are you able to press it down or is it physically blocked? If blocked clean it out. If it's not you can program a hotkey that simulates pressing enter with Autohotkey. If the laptop is still under warranty contact support and they may send you a new keyboard.

You just can't help it, can you Holy? :teehee:

*cough cough* On topic, rebooting is always the first thing I do when something's wrong (even some strange things be be fixed by that  ). If that's doesn't work you might be able to pop out the key itself too see if something's physically wrong with it. I'll tell you though if a key truly stops working you might have to replace the whole keyboard :swear:

Good luck :)

Hey, thanks for the help guys - I did the whole digging around thing and pressing different places and then finally gave it a bit of a gentle shake (kinda like the advice they gave me when I asked... nevermind :P ), and something must have come loose because it works!

I'll be keeping that remapping page just in case it ever happens again though.
