How long do you think it would take for gaming companies to use this technology?

I'd love to see a TES game like this :)

No.

Yes.

Basically, its capabilities are extremely exaggerated.

The most logical outcome is that if game developers had this technology then you would end up with a collection of fairly generic shooters, they will be very short, very linear and and extremely limited in terms of story, voice acting and gameplay. But each one will have asset files that take up 20-30 gigs of your hard drive. They will be the best selling games ever and game developers will declare that gamers don't care about poor repetitive gameplay or decent storylines so long as they have photorealistic graphics.

I shudder to think about what kind of "streamlining" a TES game would have to go through.

First time I saw that video I could have sworn I had seen it before. Then Notch pointed me to the old video (which I had already seen) which shows basically the same tech while using a different company name. Then Notch pointed to a few other issues that makes this tech less exiting than they make it out to be.

I mean, if it really is so revolutionary, then why are the game studios not all over it..

What...?

It only makes sense if you spin around backwards whilst trying to lick your own ear.

Either that, or have a lot of coffee. ^^

Show me a voxel rendered scene with many different objects and some animated object, such as a level in a video game. Then I'll be impressed.

Yes, it's basically a hoax.

While the tech is sort of legit, it's not practical, not even a little. I doubt games, at least anytime soon, will be made from this tech. It would require a huge amount of data to even store a game. Seriously terabytes upon terabytes of storage.

I believe they're scamming investors? Is that what I heard? I can't exactly remember.
