Sending images

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 10:44 pm

I was recently at a wedding and took a lot of pictures.
Now some other people want them too but they seem to be too big to send via email. (Using Gmail)

Do hotmail allow me to send bigger images.. or is there any other way to send 50 pictures to people online?

Try hosting them on a website and give your friends access to see them?

Like upload to photobucket and make it public for your friends.

try compressing them using winzip or http://www.7-zip.org/, you can upload that compressed file to a website like http://www.mediafire.com/ if you set up an account, and then you can email the download link

if you use 7zip then the people who download them will also need a program to decompress the files, other then 7zip i believe winrar also has the ability to open 7zip files but isn't free

- If it's too big for gmail to send, then it'll be too big for a lot of people to receive.

- Use MediaFire and make the content private with a password -- that way only those you want will be able to download it

- Use Dropbox and share it with specific people (would require them to have a Dropbox account)

There are other services, but MediaFire and Dropbox gets my vote if you want to keep it private

You can send public links that don't require an account with dropbox, too. I'd recommend it, its the cleanest and simplest hosting site I've come across.

I'd also make sure to resize your pictures. Modern cameras tend to take them at insane resolutions that no one has any need for.

Public links are public though (obviously :P). If the OP doesn't want just anyone to be able to access the pictures, the public folder isn't really an option.
