Best FREE Word Processor?

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 10:09 pm

My 60-day Microsoft Office trial I was using for work has expired on my newest laptop so I'm wondering what you guys think the best free word processor is. I was thinking Open Office, any thoughts?

Hasn't OpenOffice now split off into LibreOffice? Something to do with Oracle being difficult from what I recall, but I use the latter, anyway.

Just been reading about http://www.thewindowsclub.com/kingsoft-office-suite-2012-free-microsoft-office-alternative-windows?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=kingsoft-office-suite-2012-free-microsoft-office-alternative-windows as a replacement for MS Office, but I don't know what it's like - I use Open Office.

Not overly fond of AbiWord, Softmaker's ok, but not FOSS, Oracle killed OpenOffice.org.

That just leaves LibreOffice

If anyone mentions KOffice as a real alternative needs to spend 5 minutes in it before talking :P

So far their "free" offerings haven't been so free. I gave up on it for being proprietary and constantly promising free versions and not delivering (dunno if 2012 is actually free or not, as I said, I gave up on it)
