Elite - In Process

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 5:40 am

Okay guys, well I decided that I'm going to start a story that I hope will get you guys in the mood for reading something good every once in a while. :P Right now, it's in the process of being created and I just want to show you guys a few pieces and such to ask for your opinions. How you guys feel at first hand about the story, the mood you get. Things like that. :P

Get ready, for the next big thing.
Dalek's, 'Elite', coming soon.
Prepare, to take to the skies.

_______________________________________________

'Elite' takes place in the city of Avion (Ay-Vee-On). A famed city in the sky, imprisoning the world's elite for the sole entertainment of their fans.

Shaken and disoriented, the world's most famous stars and entertainers are simple pawns in the twisted reality television, in a fight for survival. Struck with a medically induced amnesia, they have forgotten their fame and fortune and only know of one thing, survival.

_______________________________________________

The City of Avion was once a commercial center, in high demand for advertisers, sponsorship, but maintained it's professionalism with it's worldly theme. This city in the sky fluttered hundreds of feet in the air, hanging just above the Earth like another one of the clouds. It traveled the world with it's architectures changing with their airspace. Not only was it widely known for being the only inhabitable structure in the air, but it was also known for the changing streets and buildings in accordance to their location. From a Chinatown theme to a formidable all American. The streets were crowded with people trekking the distances in the sky, purchasing overly expensive products and staying in hotels all at a 5 star rating. Avion was based solely on the material riches of it's inhabitants and has now crumbled to a death trap of entertainment.

As the city of Avion looms in the skies, now unmanned and populated only by a few of the world's elite for entertainment, it serves a set for the world's most popular reality TV show, 'Avion'. Left uninhabited and riddled with tricks and traps for almost no reason at all besides the simple human hunger for blood. It's now a playground for it's masters and their puppets. Even despite it's trillion dollar value and astonishing amount of popularity around the world, it was left to rot by it's creators to test the limits of their design. Buildings still shift positions and change formats and streets still change to differing avenues.

Sounds kinda like the setting for the new Bioshock.

Do you have some of it written, or just letting us know that it may be coming soon?

I've already got some stuff written, right now I'm showcasing some of the ideas. To ease people into the story instead of coming out with a whole thread with chapters at the ready. You know, hype kind of. And yea, the inspiration for the whole 'city in the sky' thing came a bit from BioShock. I never really was a huge fan of BioShock, so it's not like the story is going to be a rip off. It's just the setting that is relatively similar.

You should just post what you've got.

Unless you write slowly and it isn't finished.

Hype is overrated.

This. Especially when dealing with literature. My suggestion: post the whole thing when you've completed it.

I'm doing a go as you think kind of thing.

The first few chapters are done, calling for the inception of new chapters. Right now I'm ahead by about 6. So as I go I'll keep a steady pace.

Ok. I expect something that is close to the masterpiece that is Nineteen Eighty-Four; or is that too much pressure? :disguise:

None at all. :foodndrink:

@Frankenstein: Like, as I write I will come up with my stuff. I've already got the first few laid out, which gives me a head start for even more laying out. Don't worry, it'll be great. ;D

I'm still not sure I follow... Are you trying to differentiate between planning out the story ahead of time and simply diving in and letting it evolve without an end in mind?

I've already got the basis planned out, in other words how it begins and how the rest of it lays out. But yes I have an ending in mind. Take this for example.

x____________________________y

From point X (the basis of the story), to point Y (the end of the story) I have the events that lead to point Y. I have the major points planned out, the beginning which lays out the rest of the story and the ending that completes the story. Everything in between is for me to decide to lead to point Y.

Get it? :twirl:

Makes sense, yes...
Many of the authors I've worked with start with even less structure than that. :)

Let's see the first chapter!

Well, it's in process. I want the story idea to gain some momentum and I will launch the official thread.

I'll release more info later.

Is this apart of the story or are you just describing the setting?

Setting and back story, just tidbits of information here and there, edited into the main post.

Oh ok. Because when I saw this "...and has now crumbled to a death trap of entertainment.", I was like "You're telling us too much of the plot at once." But I see that you just want to familiarize people with the setting and a general idea of the story. Well, so far, it's sounding good.

"Its" is possessive. "It's" is a contraction of "it is".

Sorry, that's bugging me already.

Also, I just thought of something: you might want to consider changing the title. I say this because some people will see the title and be like, "Haha. Elite, l33t, 1337!!" Just a suggestion. I guess you could consider it after you have actually finished. :P

I'm sorry but we don't allow fan fiction that is not game related and then only in our fan fic sections of the forum.

There are lots of forums that do allow such however and you may sport a link to it in your sig. :)
