no RAGE x64 SDK / TEXTURE PACK - here is why

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 4:13 pm

so the console market held a great game back -

PC RAGE is a console port:

It was made for Console.

TEXTURES suffer

The texture compress caused massive loss of fidelity - on an order x3 or x4 - 125 GB + = compress to 23 GB so it could fit on a DVD/B-ray disk.

CPU multi-thread support / x64 support / SDK - nope

Id/Beth. will not release these items because it devalues the Console Market; its more profitable to wait. They will wait until sales fall (March / April 2012) then give us our "Bone"... "Sorry :)"
A $60 copy w/o the hardware (cartridge) or DVD / docs -> so Steam (digital) is cheap an easy for them - they maximize profit while selling a console port on a platform that has x2-x3 the fidelity and raw CPU speed.
Intel did this in the 1990 w/ Celeron and BUS SPEED - sit on your hands and milk the market - they will lose out in the end. DX 9 can only live so long. The next rev of HD TV will FORCE these guys to come into the 21st Century w/ their tech.
They make the most profit on us, while selling us a console port. How is this good business. John has as much as admitted this in his own words. "BIG MISTAKE"

Be realistic, do you think even if this was a PC only game they would have released it with 125 GB's worth of textures? How would they package that? 20 DVD's? Or maybe a 3 day download from steam? You make no sense.

Exactly. If anything, the PS3 offers the best way to store higher-quality textures - on a dual-layer 50GB Blu-ray... heck, can the PS3 read quad-layer Blu-rays?

According to http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070512154438AAmaF75 it can. Seems legit.

Fixed:

The blu-ray offers the best way to store higher-quality textures when it comes to discs
