HD Channels

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 2:25 am

So I got an HDTV (42in Vizio), but my cable channels look pretty bad, and watching them in "Normal" annoys me with all the black area , and "Wide" seems to cause a little distortion.

Do you generally just contact your Cable provider and purchase some sort of HD Converter or is this something I can pick up at Besty Buy/Walmart/etc?

You have to buy the HD channels package from your cable provider. They will increase your cable bill and give you a STB which they will charge an installation fee for you to use on top of the HD package plan.

Ah okay. I just wanted to double check in case it WAS something I could just go out and grab.

High Definition Box $9.95/box per month
HD DVR Box $12.95/box per month

DVR is digital video recorder right? So they are both the same, but one I can record with.

Well, you MIGHT have a few OTA HD channels, but that'd mean switching between your cable and your antenna and obviously won't be more than a handful and lack any non local channels you get through cable.

Yes, DVR is digital video recorder.
