iPhone 4 Monthly Cost with Wireless Internet?

Does anyone know if you have to pay monthly for an iPhone's internet if you're using a wireless internet thing at your house?

Also, I've checked the Apple Store and the iPod Touch and iPhone cost the same thing. Why is this?

Okay, good. Looks like I'll be getting an iTouch. Thank you for the quick responses. :toughninja:

So you only want this for internet? Nothing else?
And if you're going for only wi-fi, there's usually just a few locations where you can use it.
What's your intended use for this?

Okay, so with an iTouch, you don't need to pay anything monthly and you can still have internet/download access and everything (except calling and stuff)?

The key here is that an iPhone is a phone. It needs a phone provider subscription to perform it's basic function.

An iPod Touch is a music player. It doesn't require any kind of subscription to perform it's basic function.

Two entirely different types of devices, even though they both have the same basic shape and can use wifi internet / run apps.

Yes, if you're not looking to get a cellphone, there's no reason to get an iPhone.

The iPhone on the Apple Store says that it requires a 2 year committment to a phone service. In return for this guaranteed payment, the phone companies subsidize the cost of the phone. That's why it's not more expensive than the iPod.

(This is pretty typical for cellphones. You see advertisemants all the time, on TV and in the paper, for cell phones "free with 2 year service contract" or things like that.)
