Kingdom of Amular

What do guys think of this game. Honestly it looks great to me, and I am already sold on the Lore being created by R.A. Salvatore. But Skyrim has me much more excited but I am wondering if this game will actually give Skyrim a good run for its money as one of the better RPGs in the next year. From all I have seen it won't beat Skyrim. But it will come close. Def getting both games but figured I would make a thread for it as I have seen none through the Search function.

Feel free to discuss anything relating to the game.

This is the one other game on my wish list besides Skyrim, it looks fantastic.

Also, there is already a thread dedicated to it somewhere around here.

It is on my list of games to keep an eye on certainly. However I would say the game seems a bit 'flashy'.

The art style?

I personally love the art style they are using, I'm tired of realistic graphics, I'd much rather have my game look like games.

Meh realism adds to the immersion, at least for me.I still like the art style though.

I'm looking forward to this and I'm likely to buy it on day one.

Really? Looked through like 5 pages and used the search function. Unless it was called something else besides Kingdom of Amular lol.

I am actually looking forward to this game for many reasons but there is one thing I do not really like that they are doing. Quick time events with those blue fate kills. Meh...

I'm extremely excited. The mechanics might not be anything revolutionary, but the game looks polished and the story seems to be good. Already they've taken the character who doesn't know himself cliche and put a twist on it.

Resurrected in a well of souls by a crazy Gnome? Brilliant.

I love games with these unique art styles, they are just beautiful, and Amalur is no exception. It reminds me a bit of Fables flashy art style, which I really liked.

Definitely have high hopes for Amalur. http://thegamingliberty.com/index.php/2011/06/09/kingdoms-of-amalur-reckoning-gets-box-art/ A game with that kick-ass of box art must be good, right? :spotted owl:

Seriously, I'm really excited for this game.

That is a strong possibility, I hate to say that but it is possible. There are just so many options, choices with Reckoning it's crazy.

The games are different enough to not warrant a comparison I think. Sure, they are both role-playing games, but they differ wildly in style.

And luckily, both games release months apart so they aren't competing. Two RPGs on this scale in the space of months is pretty awesome though.

True. Honestly, aside from the fact that it's an open world RPG and it has Ken Rolston on the dev team it's not that similar to TES.

They are very different, indeed. I have higher expectations for Reckoning simply because I heartily disagree with a lot of design choices made with Skyrim. Going to play both to death, though. I also want to start fresh with a new really good fantasy universe, and except from the somewhat stereotypical races, the lore seems very interesting.

Yeah, it does not look or feel like TES. It strikes me more of a MMO meets Fable meets shiny shiny. I like the look though and will be keeping my eyes on it.

I want to like it considering the people who are working on it... but it just looks so gaudy. :yuck:

TBH it reminds me of Game of Thrones a bit for some reason. I cannot explain why because when I think about it there are few similarities.

I really hope Salvatore does not make a bunch of characters identical to the ones in his previous books. Then again that would not be such a bad thing. Drizzt and Artemis personalities?

I predict one thing though. Our guy is going to destroy the whole everyone has a destiny mechanic. How else could it turn into an MMO? lol

I really want to like the game, especially because Ken's working on it, but it just looks so generic. I'll probably give it a rent.

Can't wait for it. Looks really awesome. Definitely glad to see a great new RP franchise starting.

I'm semi- looking forward to the new LOTR game, war in the north as well.

I just know that's a 50/50 chance to fail, whereas Amalur has a fantasy dream team working on it.

It looks interesting and I am intrigued, but I'm going to have to wait for reviews. Besides, I've already got another first-day RPG purchase around the same time, anyway, and am in no rush to go out and get Reckoning.
