Beautiful Artdesign

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 5:25 am

I just wanted to say here how beautifull the whole game looks. The whole art design is a masterpiece.. I sometimes just stop playing just to look at the whole scenery , or the towns..the NPC's.. its truly amazing.. When looking at the graphics i cant stop thinking how far graphics for games have come in comparison with 10 15 years ago... its almost unbelievable.

Its Steampunk combined with modern Sci-Fi .. There was a trance band in Europe back in the 90's called DUNE.. if you check their old school song " rainbow to the stars" its almost the same artdesign in their video's same as we can see in the game..
But i wonder if there is some Conceptart book comming out for this game ? I am really in love with the design the graphics everything!

THANK YOU !!!!

Agreed! Most games I'll find myself impressed with one or two areas in the game. But Rage is one of the only games that has left me impressed by the visual design in the levels around nearly every corner.

By far the most artistically breathtaking game to date...looking forward to one day not having to deal with texture compression

For the most part I agree. Just about every mission has good art design. Where it falls apart is the final two missions. I was really expecting a more epic bridge crossing a treacherous ravine, and a dilapidated city with towers leading to the tech center where you upload the Ark info. The ending just didn't live up to everything else in the game.

I wonder how much influence id's ex artist 'Sparth' had over Rage...? He's no longer there but did a lot of concept art work. See here (the Rage stuff is fairly obvious): http://www.sparth.com/sparth-gallery.html

but the textures!! the textures!! When i stare at that one wall all day its so ugly! It ruins all the artwork. You aren't a "true" PC gamer if you like this game.

/agree - even though they dumbed down a lot of the textures and didn't optimize it (thank god for the configs) I mostly agree with you. most "freeze frame" views were breathtaking, and the NPC's/mutants/punks.. they looked better than the 3d Nvidia demos from just a couple years back, and they are EVERYWHERE, and I really do appreciate that they had so many different body parts that they put together like little Frankensteins to make the mobs look so unique - yes, many of the ghosts/garage guys looked like clones, but the mutants and so many of the other later enemies, check out their outfits, boots, heads, weapons... NICELY DONE!
