Films to watch while waiting for Skyrim!

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 1:46 pm

Hello TES community!

Anyone knows any GOOD film (documentary is fine too) on Nordic, Vikings or dragons theme?

Thanks in advance!

Off-topic: What do you think, if a player will have the ability to fly on a dragon in Skyrim?

Well we've heard Todd Howard pimping Conan a lot, so that sounds like a good area to start.

Haha, I was going to post something like this! Sadly most viking films Are American. They aren't vikings. (no offense)

The most obvious: The 13. Warrior. Lot of vikings, bear-skin-wearing cannibals, happy slaughter and fire etc...

Nice action movie, and also an inspiration for the cave-dwelling nord cannibals from Solstheim (Morrowind),
or at least I always had that impression...

This. There's a scene near the end, I don't want to give it away, but all the main characters start finishing eachother's sentecnes, and it sent chills down my spine just like the Skyrim trailer.

Is that based on Eaters of the Dead?

EDIT: Ah yes it is actually. Great book, so I'll have to check that movie out.

Watch the 13th Warrior!

Agreed beyond belief.

I'm finding it quite hard to believe that nobody has mentioned the really obvious one: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

Hmm...Thinking about it...maybe this wonderful film might be something as well
to pass the time. No vikings though, and not much "real" action. But nevertheless
medieval times, when they were still dark and fire the only source of light. With
arcane magic and the BEST dragon in movie history so far! (Hopefully Smaug may change that)

Vermithrax Pejorative!!!

And simply unbelievable, this was produced by Disney! The best they ever did...sadly never again.

I'd say Beowulf because it's very... "vikingy"... but it's a horrible film....

You are going to have to watch an awful lot of films if you are waiting for Skyrim :P
