Step 1) Go to Google

What would be really awesome is if they turned the http://mrdoob.com/projects/chromeexperiments/google_gravity/ into a search result like this.

According to the first linked article, if you have an HTML5 enabled browser, the page will spin. (Didn't work on either of my browsers, but I don't keep them updated. I actually went back to Firefox 3 from 4, because the changes they made were terrible.)
That would explain it then, I reverted to version 3 too.Guess I'll check it out on a machine with 4 later.

Asides from the entertainment value, this is also a reminder for people to stop using outdating browsers :stare:

Go on Google and type 'Askew'.

Works with "tilt" too.

Works with "tilt" too.

"Straight" also corrects it, if it wasn't already obvious :)

Well then they need to stop screwing up the features I like when they update their browsers. Firefox 4 was terrible. Screwed up a bunch of interface options I prefered, didn't give ways to put them back, could only find plug-ins that would "sort of" fix half of them, and it decided to make everything all about these stupid tabs.

(Kind of like the new Mac OS is all about "We made it just like your touchpad iOS devices! Isn't it great?" No, no it isn't. I don't use any touchpad devices, smartphones, "gesture" interfaces, or any other stuff like that. Your new OS version fracks up half the stuff I do, and I'm going to resist updating as long as I possibly can. Unfortunately, their next update will probably be even worse. I'd say that this is the thing that might finally force my over to the PC side, after 30 years using Apple products, but Windoze is apparently making their next version "just like our tablet OS!" too. )

Does Apple force you to update? Never used a Mac before so I don't know.

I hate the way Windows 8 looks too, but thankfully Windows 7 is supported until the year 2020.

Windows 8 looks almost identical to Windows 7 except the Explorer which now has a ribbon on it. It's ugly, sure, but not a reason to boycott the os

Paying $100+ for something I don't need, is that a good enough reason? Not a boycott, more of an unnecessary upgrade.

You never said you had problems with the price, or that you didn't need it, or that you thought it was unnecessary. You just said you didn't like the way it looked.

Not directly, but incidental things can sometimes force the issue.

(Like...... "Oh, I want to download some new thing from iTunes. Oh, it says you need the latest iTunes update to use that feature. Oh, it says that the latest iTunes needs the new system version." Or other stuff like that. Some piece of software you want to run that ends up requiring other upgrades. Like when Halo 2 PC came out, and tried to force the switch to Vista. I imagine a good number of people skipped playing Halo 2.)

Nothing outdated about Firefox 3.6.23. It's fully patched and released the same day as Firefox 7.0. It can't barrel roll (but can askew)

Nothing outdated about Opera 11.52. It can't barrel roll (but can askew)

Nothing outdated about IE8 on XP. It's fully patched and supported since IE9 won't run on XP. It' can't barrel roll or askew

I'm certain I can find many other browsers (links2 :P) that it doesn't work with that aren't outdated. As much as I love Google, Google is notorious at user-agent sniffing (Gawd, that week back when where Google decided that because I was using Opera I MUST be using the mobile version and would only serve me mobile page :swear:).

Windows 8 looks almost identical to Windows 7 except the Explorer which now has a ribbon on it. It's ugly, sure, but not a reason to boycott the os

If you could infinitely stay in Windows Desktop, I'd agree with you, but seeing how everything throws you to Metro, it's annoying as hell. You shouldn't need to use a registry hack just to have your OS not be bipolar.

Of course this is just the Dev preview, and it may change in the final release, but MS is being such a dillweed refusing to answer the question as to whether Metro will be officially disable-able in the final release DESPITE it being the most popular question.

On a side note, the ribbon bar is also kill-able through turning off RPEnable in the registry (not certain if it's the global RPEnable or the user RPEnable)
