I've never modded GTA: SA until now and I am having some difficulty. I'm trying to install is Masterod's Niko Bellic mod, I've done everything the readme and various tutorial videos have told me to do but as soon as my save loads the screen goes black and stays that way. The only instruction I haven't followed is having the gta3.img over 1GB, I've added all necessary files to it but it remains less than 1GB, what can I do?

Do you have the original version or do you have the "unmoddable" version that was released after the Hot Coffee scandal?
