Inactive accounts get deleted occassionally I think. It definitely didn't take until February 2011 until someone came up with the idea of using the name http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/user/656813-fargoth/. :P

I'd like to say the exact same opposite thing.

I hate you ID Software for using OpenGL.

...And I also hate AMD/ATI for making bad video cards.

That makes no sense. OpenGL rules and RAGE requires DirectX 9+ to run.

Dumb flamebait. AMD makes processors, by the way.

AMD bought out ATI several years ago. So they make both now.

Edit: Also, Rage does use OpenGL for the Windows version.

Uhm, I'm pretty sure Rage does require OpenGL and not DirectX... otherwise I'd be playing it right now.

Well, AMD's processors aren't the best either (or are they?). I can't play any good games because my CPU is outdated/bad. But I suppose that's not their fault. I blame Acer, then... for using ATI and an outdated AMD CPU.

I've never seen an AMD graphics card, or an ATI processor. That's akin to saying that Pepsi makes Dr. Pepper, when they're two separate brands. One may own the other, but there's certainly the distinction in the product.

How would a game using OpenGL not be playable?

I don't think he meant that. He's saying that you'll always see an AMD processor with an ATI video card.

When I said "they", I meant AMD. And no, they're not separate brands anymore. Newest generation doesn't use the ATI name.

Anyways, this is off topic.

AMD killed the ATI name about a year ago, all Readeon cards are now AMD. It's more like you'd see all Pepsi and Dr. Pepper cans say "Pepsico" on them, but the Dr. Pepper name was removed and instead called Pepsi Radeon or something.

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. Dr Pepper and Pepsi are two different kinds of soda to you, yet Pepsi owns Dr Pepper and therefore 'makes it'. However, it's very obvious that the two are different products, joined at the hip financially. This is the case with AMD and ATI, as if you asked anyone who has heard of the two brands, they would tell you that AMD makes processors and ATI makes graphics card; not that AMD makes processors and graphics cards.
Newest generation doesn't use the ATI name anymore.
That's unfortunate.

I don't understand how I've seemed to miss this. Well, guess my foot is in my mouth at this point. Time to slowly back away from the thread.

People call me a ID Software really devoted fan.. lol. I wish I could work for them. I applied once. Tried to call but the receptionist told me she would call me back. She never did. lol.

Have to love the trolls. Anyhow yup some how I ended up with this OG name :) ... Beat Rage in about 16 hours.. but I think I left much undone, so Im going to give it the long haul now.
