Need some tech help!

Alright... my PC (Laptop actually) is going to hell in a handbasket quick. It's been running so redonkulously slow lately that I just can't take it anymore.

So, I go to reformat.. but there IS no reformat program/option? Only a system restore. Which only went back like 3 months? Orly?

And NOW I'm just reading from this thing that came in the box for my laptop that it says you should make a backup disc before doing anything (GEE great to know this NOW!)...

...

Anyone who can help here or via PM would be greatly appreciated!! I know a lil bout this stuff.. but not everything.. lolz

Some stuff that may help speed it up:

CCleaner: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner
--- It cleans up your registry, removes cookies and the like and is a "Remove Program" tool. Make sure you back up your registry if you're not sure what you're doing.

Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/ -or- Superantispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/
--- 2, great, free antispyware programs.

Mydefrag: http://www.mydefrag.com/
--- Amazing defragging program.

Run those three/four in conjunction, clean up your programs, make sure you empty your recycle bin and maybe dust out the poor laptop with some compressed air and get back to us.

ALSO: If you have your Windows disc, you can do a full reinstallation of Windows from that. Other than that, yeah, System Restore will only take you back a couple months or so.

1. Back up your data NOW.

2. Try the programs SpankyTheElf mentioned.

3. If you tell us your laptop manufacturers we can tell you how to perform a factory default.

Toshiba Satellite C650 Series
Windows 7 (Came already on it, I have no disc)
NTFS File system (not FAT)

This is really all the specs I know..

I would like to do a factory default honestly, just hit the reset button lol.

Assuming your laptop has a recovery partition still:

Hold down the 0 (zero) key and turn the laptop on. Keep holding down the zero key until the TOSHIBA logo appears.
Tap the 0 key repeatedly
the screen should flash HDD RECOVERY MODE

DO NOTE:

IF YOU DO NOT BACK UP YOUR DATA BEFORE A FACTORY DEFAULT ALL YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST!!!! BACK UP BEFORE FOLLOWING THOSE INSTRUCTIONS OR LOSE EVERYTHING

your bookmarks, all your browser settings, all your documents, all your installed programs, all oyur installed program settings, all your saved passwords you don't remember, EVERYTHING will be lost if you don't back it up.
