omg 1080p

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 1:50 pm

So I decided to upgrade from my 1440x900 19' display up to a 1920x1080 led lcd display. And let me tell you, it was SO worth it. What a difference. If anyone is on the fence about upgrading to real hd, I say go for it. Especially for skyrim :foodndrink:

Completely agree. I made the switch from 1280x768 to 1920x1080. Fantastic

omg people should upgrade their rooms to 20X20m at least, it's so much better, especially for Skyrim

The placebo effect - never overrated

Skyrim on consoles only runs at 720P native. so all you have is a sub HD picture being up-sampled to an HD resolution.

but provided you feel like you got your moneys worth and you think it looks better, who the hell am i to argue.

Got my new monitor today. By switching from 16:10 to 16:9 gets rid of those black bars. It makes a HUGE difference.

Completely agree. I made the switch from 1280x768 to 1920x1080. Fantastic

Having switched from a 50" LCD monitor for 360 to a 1280x768 on PC, my PC still looks better than TV ever did.

Upgraded from a 22" lcd @ 1680 x1050 to a 27 " full hd about a year or so ago and it was totally worth it.

Placebo effect? Not hardly. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Unless of course you are on PC and can bump the resolution up to 1080p, then I wouldn't call that a placebo effect.

PC games at 1920x1080 are fantaaaastic. Totally worth it if your video card can handle the more intense output.

the metric here is resolution : physical size.

so HD is 1920x1080. if you streach that over a 24" monitor its going to look leaps and bounds better then the same 1920x1080 pixels over a 50" area.

For skyrim specifically, it is. the game itself does not support 1080

So does that give you a wider FOV over multiple monitors?

Brother, I hear you. I made the same upgrade from a 19 inch 1440X900 to a 21.5 inch 1920x1080 myself just last week. I had to fiddle with the contrast, brightness and other settings a bit to stop it from looking all washed out, but after that, it's really just better in every way.

Heh funny this should pop up now, I bought a new monitor myself today (cos of Skyrim).

Used to have a Compaq 1501 which is a very tiny 15 inch LCD monitor, 1024 x 768, but today I bought an AOC 2436 monitor and I'm using 1920 x 1080 resolution.

May not be the biggest monitor out there but it sure was a big jump for me :P

For skyrim specifically, it is.

You've never played games or watched movies online in full hd have you. I don't believe you'd be making those statements if you had.

Like I said before, don't knock until you've tried it. I once though that full hd was overrated...then I actually played games in it, and watched movies online in full hd.

I have a perfectly good 1680x1050 22" monitor. Considering my previous monitor was a 1280x1024 17" I'm still quite happy. I don't think I'll get a larger one for at least another year or so. As far as those saying "don't knock it until you've tried it", I'm not. Still, you don't miss what you've never had and I'm content at the moment. I think my games look pretty darn good on this one.

I'd buy a new monitor, but my 1680x1050 one is calibrated perfectly and I don't want to go through that again.
