Need a new computer chair

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 11:20 am

Hey.

Kind of a random topic, but I was hoping some people here could recommend me a type of computer chair that would be good for my back. I play a lot of games on my computer on the weekends and I find my current chairs are giving me back problems (they are cheapos). Does anyone here recommend any kind of chair that they are able to sit in for longer periods without these problems? Thanks..

The best advice I can give you is to try out as many chairs as you can. Try to find one with good lower back support. :)

Steal one from an office. Seriously, consumer-grade chairs are invariably complete rubbish and it's almost impossible to get hold of a decent one for love or money. I still have mine from when I did a trial working from home programme in the mid 1990s and in spite of the fact that it's so worn-out and sat on, it's still miles better than anything I could buy.

I wish the situation would change, but it still seems the case that consumer-grade office furniture is crap. Maybe it's just like that in the UK, though. A decent dining chair would probably be a better bet.

I got mine off craigslist, for about $30 and its decently comfy. I've sat in a few chairs in offices that were like sinking into a cloud though, wish I could get my hands on something like that.

Unfortunately I can't tell you where to get any good ones, although something like Craigslist might be your best bet if you want comfy and cheap.

I'd get one of those uh.... Steelcase chairs that are used in labs.

Saw a herman miller at Costco...

Place to get cheap high end chairs would be an office surplus store.
