I'm trying to determine if that email is a fake. I received it on an email account that I have not affiliated with EA/Bioware/Origin but I have not received it on my email account that I used when I pre-ordered the game.

yeah... contrary to popular belief, not playing Skyrim won't kill you. Just try out the beta first and play Skyrim when you're done. It's probably better anyway since you probably won't encounter many bugs and glitches since they game would most likely be patched by then.

You could y'know, play SWTOR instead, and wait to play Skyrim after the first patch (and probably when the beta will end either way), and have a better game experience overall in Skyrim.
