And if you can fry bacon on your GPU I wouldn't worry about getting the munchies while you game.

I've actually more than once thought about using the heat from my computer to keep my tea warm. I don't think it's hot enough for bacon.

53°C in-game is very good. My card goes up to 85-90°C while gaming. :/

I was hoping it was just over-heating so I can hoover more gunk out of it and be done with it.

May still do that.

So, I need to try and reinstall these drivers...

EDIT: Does anyone know why cards don't come with monitoring software? This free programme seems pretty simple.

My old GPU safely went to a hundred degrees Celsius. I think that's fine for bacon.

Alright so I loaded up a game there, it ran for about 25 minutes and crashed while I was monitoring the temp.

Crashed at 58c. So it's not overheating, then.

This time I went weird, then went black, and the monitor shut off as if I'd taken the DVI cable out.

Something similar happened to a friend of mine a while ago and it was because his PSU was failing

well to be honest he was trying to run 4 HDDs, a powerful GPU (with two monitors in use) and an overclocked CPU. :P

Crashed.

- Re installed drivers
- Cleaned out GPU
- Monitored temperature

Tried everything you suggested apart from the C: format.

Event Log has it down as a critial.;

Event 41, Kernel-Power

Any idea what that could mean?

Second one applies to you.

Well, if you want to rule out a corrupted Windows install, reinstalling that would be next. If it still persists, it's probably a hardware issue. If you have any unallocated HDD space you can simply try installing a second instance of Windows. You can simply delete the partition if it doesn't help.

Thanks, wolfpup. I'll look into your suggestions.

Does it seem odd to you that if I run the game in a very low resolution, it doesn't crash?

Not odd. It may indicate it is a hardware issue after all but I'd still try the Windows reinstall. Again, preferably leaving the original intact for ease if it is actually hardware. Then you can go back to your old set up quick and easy. You'd only need (up to) 20GB of HDD space free for that. You could reacquire free space with something like Gparted. Or if on W7 you can use "Shrink Volume" under Disk Management.
