Anyone find Carmack's signature in the Dev Trophy Room?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 11:47 pm

I found the room but not Carmack's signature.

I can recognize some other names at id on the walls like Tim, Todd & the id Mom, but maybe I'm missing Carmacks.

It's there. I don't have a screenshot, but go over to the ladder, and just to the left you'll see Andy Chang's name upside-down and backwards; just to the left of his is Carmack's. Since the signature texture tiles, you'll find it in other areas in that room too.

Excellent, thanks! I have a save file right there so I'll go back and look around some more.

Without telling me where the secret rooms are, how hard are they to find? I'm pretty sure I'm skipping over them, but I'm not really looking for them. Also, how about the field goals? I briefly looked for them but I didn't find anything resembling goal posts.

The id room is quite easy to find; regular nosing around and looking a little bit for stuff will get you that.

The Quake room is findable - the buttons you need to press for it are well tucked away but some more intensive searching can turn them up. It's location is also well hinted.

Unless I've missed something I'd say the Doom and Wolf rooms are impossible unless you've been spoilered. No hints at all that I could find. Once you have been spoilered they're utterly trivial though. You've probably missed the Wolf room by this point in time though as it's very early in the game.

If you're looting and looking for any ammo you may find the Secret idSoftware Developer room which is good to find for the trophy. Your action button will highlight over what you are to 'interact' with and a hidden panel opens up that is out of view when you do it. You crouch to go in and it's there plus, bonus! Trophy.

The Quake, Wolfenstein & DOOM rooms don't cue you to use your action button so they are a bit harder to find IMO. You have to know, well maybe I can interact with this.

But, I've tried to interact with a lot of things since I found parking meters, soda machines and ATM's give you money.

Also there is a ladder in the room with the id Mom's signature at the top. You can climb this ladder but not the same way you climb other ladders in the game. You have to sort of 'jump' at this ladder. I found getting up the ladder and using my Pistol with Scope was the best way to look around & see the signatures.

There are 3 goal posts (I think) and they are all just over the edge of the game world. You can usually see one edge of the post sticking up like a metal bar. When you look over the edge you realize it's a goal post. It's a trophy too to complete the 3 field goals.

The goal posts have to be done with ATV only and it's fun to keep trying until you here the horn sound that it was a field goal. The great part is the world doesn't have to reload after you crash. Hint: The first goal post is near where Dan picks you up with his buggy at the beginning of the game. Just look over the edge.

Anyone notice how immaculate the "textures" are in the trophy room, you can make out every sig very clearly .. looks great, what happened to the other 80% of the game?

Another spat in the PC gamers face.
