I used to really love everything id did, but in retrospect . . .
they defined themselves and the genre with Doom (1 & 2), Hexen, Heretic & Quake... but then John Romero left . . . sad sad times
Quake 2 comes out, a bit of a new style, but hey, it's id, and it was amazing... BITTERMANNNNN!!!
Quake 3... well, what's this, deathmatch ONLY with weird fat chicks that have strobe-light heads?.. hrm.. ok.. deathmatch is fun so . . .
Doom 3 - Ooh yeah, trying to get back into the "True gr-id" (heh) of themselves... this game was pretty awesome, but had a mixed greeting... No Deathmatch WTF!?
Rage - yeah, id is back to it, trying to build something but it's missing Romero to smack them back into the 'design' aspect, and it showed.... and CONSOLE PORTING to the PC.. what in THE hell are you guys doing?
... and on the same token, Romero was just as lost w/o Carmack(s), they were each others Ying and Yang, creativity vs. unparalleled engineering and art ... now gone to hell... hell on earth... id you will be missed.
