There are some neat examples of usage in the current build of Rage, although some of the existent Hdr effects are missing and turning them on might prove handy. Currently there are various Bloom effects available, very limited Motion blur(only for the racing part?), and for my surprise total lack of Depth of field. We all know well, that even a slight portion of blur can kill all the edges in a complex scene without much AA, without having the same impact in performance if we were using the second. Depth of field can add a lot to the visual style and feel of the game, hiding the blurriness of the textures here and there. Proper motion blur, that is used in another FPS title, adds a lot of dynamics when it comes to turn around the camera, and will solve a lot of the texture-pop when it comes to 360 degrees spin, if properly set and the fall-off duration is longer than the loading-compression time, that the engine uses for textures. One thing I've noticed is that this loading time increases with the time spent in the game. Every next level takes a little bit longer and the graphic glitch of texture-pop becomes more visible. Hopefully optimizations will arrive soon in the next patch, and gamers will finally sight at the product they were supposed to have in the first place.
