Need help figuring out a unique computer set-up

I've procrastinated long enough, and it's finally time for me to get a new computer. I've been using a laptop as my main computer for the past 4 years or so, and I'd like to get a desktop this time around so I can get more bang for my buck(obviously, getting one that can run Skyrim well is a priority).

The only problem is that I don't have room for a desktop anymore! I'm tight on space, and the place that my old desktop used to be is now occupied by a digital piano. Basically, I've been using my laptop on my bed, and while there's enough room at the foot of the bed to place the tower on the floor(I don't go over there anyway, so no chance of it getting kicked or anything) I have no place to put the monitor/keyboard other than directly on my bed.

Obviously, though, a regular monitor/keyboard setup on my bed wouldn't work. So I was wondering if anyone knows whether it's possible to run the new computer through my laptop and use the laptop as a monitor/keyboard?

Or if anyone has other ideas for how to make a desktop work on my bed? I'm already using a mouse most of the time, and I think I'd probably be able to find a keyboard that would work well enough, but real issue would be finding a monitor that would work.

Remoting + gaming don't really work out well together, and unless your laptop has video-in (which is quite rare) that would be the only way to use your laptop's screen.

Best option is probably wall mounting with a http://www.amazon.com/VideoSecu-Swivel-19LH20-22LH200C-Monitor/dp/B000X6913I (not necessarily that one, it was just the first one I found on google) and then using a wireless keyboard/mouse or some USB extension cables
