Modding?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 9:36 pm

I dont think there is mod support for this game (which is unfortunate as it still needs a lot of work imo), but if there ever is one I had a wierd idea today. I am pretty sure many people would like to see some more rpg elements in this game (or any rpg elements). So, yeah if there ever is a modder willing to I think someone should attempt to maybe include some level progression.
That actually isnt the weird idea. My idea was also that it would be pretty amazing to include the sentry bots in the level progression. I love them, but I always felt that they are maybe not that usefull since they die off so fast even with the advanced version and when you travel from area to area they disapear. I just wish someone made it so that basically they are an abillity with like 60s cooldown and that whenever your sentry bot gets kills he levels up too. So the next time you summon it it is a little stronger. Oh man I dream too much.

They originally said in 2010 that it would ship with mod support, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

what does Zenimax owning Bethesda/id have anything to do with it? Bethesda have been releasing games with SDKs since Morrowind (10 years ago), and have been owned by Zenimax pretty much the whole time.

I'm ticked off there's no word on pretty much anything right now, let alone modding tools, but you clearly haven't got a clue.

The post I was responding to was removed by a moderator (it had a racist remark) and so my post is now pretty irrelevant. Needless to say the person blamed Zenimax for there not being any modding tools.

There will never be a 64-bit version, as Steam only works with 32-bit applications.

I've never heard of this before. Do you have any link or proof?

A statement from id on some kind of time frame for modding tools would be much appreciated.

I can not pass over in silence this.

"Rage to ship with full level editor, id studio"
"Want to mod Rage? Good. Speaking to PC Gamer at a recent press event, Id Creative Director Tim Willits revealed that the PC version of Rage will support modding and level design right out of the box. All you need to do, says Tim, is “Pull down the console, type ‘id studio’, then press enter. Then, bam, there’s all the tools we use.”

As for what you’ll be creating, that’s a little trickier; Id’s technology has moved on since you could fit 100′s of Doom levels on a CD. “Building levels from scratch is more difficult,” says Tim, “because we have a layer system in some of the levels. I can foresee somebody modding up Wellspring (a town in-game) and adding different characters, giving them different voice-over.” But if you’ve got the development skills to use it, the level editor will be there. “It’s built into the engine,” says Tim.

Will you be creating levels for Rage? Do let us know. We’ll try and feature the best mods when Rage launches in September."

source pcgamer.

BAM - THE BIG LIE - fact Why Mr. Willits? Why?

:chaos: This is what Gstaff say's Level Editor and 64-bit .EXE
We've had a number of folks asking when the RAGE editor and 64-bit .exe will be available for RAGE. We want to assure you these are coming, and we'll provide more details when they're available.
