Will you play SWTOR?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 12:00 am

Star Wars: The Old Republic will be released on the 20th of Dec, and many people have already pre-ordered it for the pre-release game access (at a hefty price). I remember when it was first announced, I was amongst many disappointed that they'd trashed SWtOR 3, with all it's many loose ends untied, and seemed to have jumped on the MMO band wagon in the most embarrassingly blatant fashion. I for one was annoyed, and not in the slightest interested. Howeeeever....I have ended up watching the updates on their website almost religiously, and have gradually come to anticipate this game even more than the likes of Skyrim. Naturally you can guess where I am on that poll then, but I was wondering where you guys are.

Maybe, I don't have much interest in a MMO but this does intrigue me a little.

Already pre-ordered, so I suppose that puts me in the "From release..." category.

Really looking forward to it, just no idea what class to pick... I'm hoping that the game isn't just overrun by Lightsaber wielding classes.

I was so pissed off it wasn't KoTOR III, that was my first knee-jerk reaction.

Years have passed though, and it's grown on me. You can tell BioWare put their heart into this game, and it isn't likely to disappoint. I'm done with WoW so I need a new MMO, and TOR is going to fill that void for me. Plus, instead of getting one story from KoTOR III, I'll get 8 different stories, and a game I can play with my friends/girlfriend.

It's looking like it's going to be amazing, I'll be playing shortly after New Years.

Same, but 4/8 of the classes are jedi/sith so might be inevitable. I'm gonna play a bounty hunter main though, just can't decide between tank and DPS yet.

Honestly, I really wanted to like this game. I've wanted a modern KOTOR game for a while, but as it is right now I've watched a lot of gameplay videos and I'm seeing a lot of the things that I was tired of when I quit WoW. The combat looks almost identical; it just has a Bioware coat of paint. That might be enough for some people, but slapping on a dialogue wheel isn't really enough for me.

I may try it at some point if there's a free trial though.

I'm playing a Trooper and my g/f is playing a Smuggler, we're going to enjoy slaughtering all the Jedi. :chaos:

No... it should have been a single-player KotOR III and after Dragon Age II and this, I really don't like BioWare and question whether I'll ever touch any of their products again. I don't play MMOs... no exceptions.

I was thinking of going Imperial Agent...

I got an E-mail from about TOR yesterday that had a video showing the progression of the agent, looked damn cool.

Not a huge fan of MMO's at all. Where is my single player Kotor? :(

Nope. Bioware's dissapointed me enough already, and KOTOR should have stayed singleplayer.

Besides, if Bioware and EA dont want me, a dirty Australian who lives outside America and Europe, to play their game then bugger them I'm not going to.

I'm not going to play it. Initially I was interested but on the fence, but after watching gameplay videos and reading reviews of the game since the NDA lifted I'm just not going to bother.

I think it's come too late to the party in terms of its mechanics. It has virtually identical gameplay mechanics to WoW. Thing is, people are getting tired of that and want something a bit different. MMOs will always have some sort of grind aspect to them, but for a brand new MMO to offer nothing new in terms of gameplay mechanics seems to be a major fail.

Star Wars, MMOs, and the Mass Effect dialogue wheel...three of my least favorite things combined in one package.

Nah, seems like a way to lighten my pockets quickly. Guild Wars 2 is going to be the only MMO for me. :D

As a side note, whatever happened to simple "Yes, No, Maybe" polls. The trend in adding all this other context to the options makes it hard to vote at all.

It's back in 2004, I would let you use my time machine, but someone else is borrowing it right now.

a game I can play with my friends/girlfriend.

That was my first reaction. I love Star Wars, but I dont love MMOs. If this can be a fun one to play with the GF it might be worth it though. Gotta check the reviews, prices, and build a new compy first though.

Same I pre-ordered mine and got into beta so i'm going to be playing it. However i'm not sure how long i'll be playing it since money is a bit tight. Sadly I have a feeling there will be a bunch of glow stick wielders running around till things settle down.

I preordered the CE but I would have no time to play or the money also so I'm going to cancel my preorder later this week.
