laptop screen broke.

OK, my screen is ruined, half of it I cant see anything, and tere is flickering. Now apparently it would cost alot to repair, and would be cheaper to buy a moniter.

So before I buy anythinng, how would I connect it to my laptop ? And does any moniter work ?

most laptops have a port for monitors, it will look exactly the same as the ones on a desktop computer, after it's hooked up you might have to press a certain combination of keys to switch displays

add: "most" does not include slim laptops

Most laptops have either a VGA or HDMI-out port somewhere, just plug the appropriate cable from your laptop to the monitor.

Im not sure what those are (I know nothing about computers), but if thats all I need to do I cant mess up much. Thanks for the replies guys, dosent seem too complicated, and would apparently be much cheaper than repair. So thanks again.
