No SLI for Rage

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 1:18 am

I have been waiting for SLI to be enabled in Rage but apparently it will not be possible. To quote Nvidia:

"AFR was not supported by RAGE, so we disabled SLI for this game. "

AFR being Alternate Frame Rendering I am pretty sure. Thanks again id for the lack of a useful PC feature. Consolitis strikes again. I bought my second GTX 460 to play Rage. This game has cost me a lot of money. I will never pay full price for an id game again. I have paid full price for every id game before this.

It's around 60 fps most of the time. However in intense vehicle combat I can get serious lag and freezes. This while my machine idles along. Processor maybe 8 degrees centigrade above idle and my cards quiet with no fan spin up. Idling.

Because this is just the console code compiled for PC there is no way to use even my one card properly. If I could at least sic both cards on the game then even with the lack of PC optimization I could get a smooth experience. As long as we cannot render alternate frames on each card SLI will not work.

Eyefinity worked natively out-of-box. I ran the whole game at 5760X1080 with maxed out settings. I thought this was an nVidia-optimized game...

create a profile for rage enable SLI, if the drivers already have a profile create a copy of the rage.exe, call it rage2.exe, then create an SLI profile, launch he game using the rage2.exe, see if it helps.

What part of Nvidia's statement "AFR was not supported by RAGE, so we disabled SLI for this game." is difficult for you to understand.

The game freezes and starts endlessly. Completely unplayable.

I have run Rage in many ways. Most of the fun I have got out of the game is fooling with it.
