What would you do for your old man?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 8:57 am

If your old man was really into watching tv like lifetime, television for women

and also loves structures (like he gets thinking about engineering when the window opens and hits a telephone post)

What do old men like this want for xmas? Surely some of you out there! When you are old dragons

Assuming ya old man did not have a flat screen tv, get a flat screen tv for him? Or pay a year worth of tv network for watching women channels?

A set of balls? :teehee:

Some sort of amateur programming/robotics kit? Favorite show on DVD? Book about the history of cinema or inventions? A videocamera so he can make home movies of the grandkids?

and books.. we does like our books..

And not one of those freaky-deaky thing-a-my-whoosits that does everything dee-gitalli.. and don't even get me started about the utter uselessness of them kindle -that's the darn word.. contraptions when it comes to slappin' down a mean old horse fly..

..sure you splat the nasty bug, but the damn readin' machine certainly ain't doin' no readin' no more!

So if yer gittin' one of them dee-gitalli machine book contraptions.. makle sure you gets him a solid, one hundred percent genuine made in America fly swatter to go along with it.

That or just a good bottle of scotch.

Buy him a http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=gilbert+erector+set&_frs=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m359
A lot of boys and aspiring engineers who eventually became real men understood that this is a place to start.

I didn't have one when I was a kid, so when I entered into my second childhood, I bought myself a couple of sets from C.1929...which is a little bit older than when I was a kid, but the older ones are better.

Gardening stuff, and if a year goes by without him asking to get his lawnmower sharpened I'd fear that something terrible had happened.

If he loves structures what about something he can build? All I can think of are Knex and Airfix models, but I'm sure there's other stuff of that nature out there. He can even do it while he watches lifetime. :)

Not sure where you're located, but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meccano is the...ahem...almost equivalent...British counterpart to the Gilbert brand.
