Hatoful Boyfriend

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 6:50 am

It's a typical Japanese dating sim game, except, you date birds. And you play as a hunter-gatherer cavegirl. And the game can be finished in only 30 minutes if you know what you're doing. And at least three endings involve being violently murdered.

Most relevant to this forum: some people have actually said that this game contends with Skyrim for the title of "Game of the Year." Well, I guess it depends on what you look for in video game characters - and you could consider the heroine of Hatoful Boyfriend to be a Nord or something.

Translation for the free version of the game: http://sce.inkwash.net/main/

Oh of course. I'm not surprised in the slightest, given what this [censored] game is about.

Finally! I've been following the release of this for months. GOTY for sure.

(They're making a seagull DLC, SO EXCITED!)

Rightfully so, it's a much better game in just about every way.

Apparently most of them end in murder. Accurate simulation there.

What are the brutal endings?

Two of them involve being sliced up by the school doctor (he preserves your pretty head, and says he'll become "intimate" with your insides), and the third has the entire human race being wiped out. There's an absolutely hilarious playthrough of it on the Quarter to Three forums that's been featured by Kotaku, but unfortunately it has a fair amount of swearing in it.

From what I've read, it's really more of a parody of dating sims than an actual, serious bird-dating sim.

The only "Bird Person" I'd date would be Birdgirl (aka Judy Ken Sebben) from Harvey Birdman Atterney at Law...I'd just have to be careful NOT to give her any personal information seeing keeping secrets isn't her strong suit.

Damn Bioware are going to have to up their game now. Same for Bethesda, I mean sure I can marry an orc, but what about a bird ? I will settle for a hagraven.
