Ezio and Alta?r

So I just found out they aren't related, yet they have the same "birth defect" scar. And they look similar. Weird.

I suggest looking for or creating an Assassin's creed discussion rather than making threads about random things in the game. Also Ezio and Altair are related, Altair is Ezio's ancestor

Nope they aren't. They're from different sides of Desmond's family. Here: http://kotaku.com/5823431/what-i-thought-i-knew-about-assassins-creed-revelations-was-partially-wrong

And okay I'll do that.

it doesnt matter too much to me. I mean, other than the fact that Ezio and Altair are extremely similar in almost every way, it doesnt affect the story that much

Nah. Ezio is foolish and shows off far too much. Altair (at least in the first AC) was cool, calm and collected, even if he was a little arrogant at the start.
In short: Altair is awesome, Ezio kinda svcks.

Maybe I'm missing the proof provided that they aren't, but story-wise (At least through AC:II) Ezio and Alta?r *have* to be related. There's a scene in AC:II where Desmond controls Alta?r and ends up witnessing the conception of one of Ezio's relatives. Similarly for Ezio to visit Alta?r's memories, following Assassin's Creed lore, they have to be related.

The scar thing's supposed to be a visual tie, really, what with the similar face anyways. :P

No, and no.

Desmond has (outside the animus, in the real world) a flashback to the conception of ALtair's first child. That's the final genetic memory Desmond has of Altair, because Desmond is descended from that child. There is no association between that child and Ezio.

Secondly, Ezio doesn't need to be related to Altair. Only the Animus works through genetic memory. Ezio never uses the animus to view Altair's memories. Rather, what happens is that Altair recorded his memories onto special First civilization artifacts, known in revelations as the Masyaf keys. By activating these artifacts, Ezio can view the memories Altair recorded onto them.

I have to admit my memory's foggy on the matters but... seems like a pointless story twist to me.

Ezio's scar isn't a birth defect, it's from when he got thwacked with a rock at the start of 2

Note how Desmond also has that scar. It might just be Desmond's physical features being overlayed the ancestors in the Animus, maybe to create a stronger synchronization.

Could be true for young Altair, but not for Ezio, since we see Ezio gain the scar during the first sequence of AC:2.

Ubisoft is not too serious with plots consistancy, so I let that go.
