Who owns the rights to create video game sequels for the baldurs gate series?

Bungie

huh?

I'm pretty sure it belongs to Atari.

That's been three years ago, but they revisited D&D (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_%26_Dragons:_Daggerdale) and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neverwinter_(video_game) is releasing in late 2012 as a F2P MMO by Cryptic/Perfect World Entertainment, so that just leaves BG.

Personally, depending on how Neverwinter turns out and who gets to develop the next BG (assuming Atari wants to do it), I'm not so sure I want a third.

Except neverwinter is a stand alone game not related to the others. And daggerdale is different too. So baldurs gate would be.....

Probably quite a bit different as well.

BioWare for example said that DA:O was the "spiritual successor" to BG. So perhaps it's safe to assume that (if it were BioWare that got to make it) it would have been like that.

I've been wondering about that supposed revisiting. After hearing something on a "Black Hound" label and that, yet seeing nothing, I'm not sure what to really make of it.
