removal of "devmap"

so, appearently the devmap command has been removed with the latest update. wich makes it impossible to test for the true values of weapons and attachments (we all know that the little bars in the weapons menue are little more then lies at worst, totally inaccurate at best)
no, i wonder: why would they do that? why trying to keep the internal workings of the game a secret?

the people on the den kirson board already found out that muzzle breaks and grips in all probability don't do anything (with the exeption of the galactica), despite what the ingame description says. bug? intended feature?
who knows what other usefull information could have been found out. i just don't get it, what's wrong with trying to figure out what makes sense and what doesn't.

After reading the message board regarding the grips and muzzle breaks, I'm beginning to get a little worried. I guess I'll have to do my own testing now that there wont be any more updates to that stats page :(

i still have some hope that they will change things and make grips and muzzle breaks actually do something. would be nice. though it kind of svcks that they are purely cosmetic, but we get told they would have influence on recoil / accuracy. and THEN the tool to figure stuff like that out gets taken away from us.

Grips and muzzle brakes work on MY copy of the game.

We've had a PS3 player testing them out and demonstrate that pretty clearly a few days ago, so apparently, if they really don't affect things on PC... svcks to be you? - or maybe they affect stats the devmap command never showed in the first place? Maybe the devmap command only showed certain changes made to base stats, and not others?

And maybe they removed that command because IT was buggy, not the stats themselves?

possible, but unlikely. it would have to be a pretty odd bug, deliberately built in to show wrong results on test bursts. so i kind of don't beliece that.
there might be more variables then those tested with grips. but they don't affect spread nor angle, burst power, magnitude and recovery. wich are all variables that we know off. unless there is something else that is fiercely hidden in the code, all percieved improvements are purely placebo. (remember that rumor a while ago that blue reflex optics in black ops would improve your recoil? same thing).

of course, now with the removal of the command we will probably never find out.

Why would it have to be a deliberate bug? How is it impossible for some alterations to the settings not to register on the specific database the devmap command works from, even if they're applied in-game? And how is it impossible for there to be alternative variable that affect the stats the same way the recoil, etc. stats do, but which aren't directly linked to those stats?

It HAS to be deliberate, because that's obviously a far more logical explanation than "they missed a few points in how the command worked"

Ever heard of Occam's Razor? - I think it applies here. A simple "they made a mistake with that command" is a far more simple and logical explanation than "there's a conspiracy within SD to make it impossible for players to identify weapon stats"

It's also possible they removed it because they have to balance some weapons differently between different platforms (accounting for console versions' aim assist), and don't want the PC stats being treated as blanket rules for all versions. Again, a SIMPLE answer, which makes sense.

no dude, you are misunderstanding me. i don't believe in some elaborate conspiracy by the devs. i was just pointing out how completely unlikely this hyptotethical bug is.
if you want to apply occam's razor, and god do i feel pretentious just by repeating this words: what is more likely: a command to anolyze the shot itself not doing what it's supposed to, or the grip doing plain nothing and the numbers in the files being correct?

as for the reason for the removal: they could just have said so, would be much simpler then removing the command. seems like a really far fetched excuse. more likely that they didn't want anybody to sniff arround in their game mechanics.
