That's because they managed to get a PC the game runs properly on, not one where it has glitches (there are a few incompatibility problems SD are working on - pretty major ones), and they reviewed the XBox version and applied the review to both consoles assuming it's a port.

Translation: They never played it on PS3.

I've played it on all platforms now, and the PC version IS better than PS3 graphically, but the bugs and issues some players experience hold it back from being a truly better total package. The XBox version is the only one really lagging behind, imo.

After reading the PC review I would have to say that console owners are being blown off in the support department and SD is probably really only focusing on the PC version as they are PC gamers. If you own a platform, not a pc, you are not a priority to SD. It is certainly starting to look that way.

The currently-unfinished review I'm writing is the only one I know of that's based on the PS3 version of the game and not being done as a reader review.

People have gotten WAY too set in their ways about the assumption that "consoles" always get the same treatment.

And SD have promised patches, and have been pretty reliable in the past when it comes to support for their products.

PC patches don't need to go through a quality control process. They can send out a new patch as often as they want/are able. Console patches have to be tested by the manufacture and there are restrictions. So instead of a ton of minor patches you tend to get a couple larger patches.

Seem I read, patches have been sent in and are being tested by sony and MS.

This. When updating a game, PC updates aren't automatic unless you go through Steam or make your own auto updater. Steam auto updates are instant, no questions asked.

PS3 updates must go through Sony. They have to check every single update, and they'll take thier sweet time after the PSN scare.

360 updates go through Microsoft. They still have to check every update, and often times developers have to pay Microsoft to update thier game, often forcing the update to have a price to players. It's why Valve never updates the console versions of TF2.

it is kinda weird that the 360 version seems to be having the most problems, seeing as how this was probably ported from the pc and that usually translates well to 360.

also, with the psn being down added into the mix, it seems like the ps3 version should be having the most issues...but not the case.

I'm playing on 360 and can't say I've noticed any 'issues' except some abnormal load times for things like Characters on the Main Menu but that could just as easily happen on any of the platforms.

Yep, on PS3 I've found that the more characters you have the longer everything takes to load. It hardly took any time at all on my first character, but now that all 10 are full it can take like half a minute before the one I want appears.

Or Bethesda/Splash Damage could have done a beta to hammer our the bugs and released the game in a more respectable state. The game was unplayable for a lot of people at release and the consoles lagged so bad it wasn't worth trying. They deserve all the bad reviews they got.

Meh, it's still a fun game. The lag did bother me, but I always managed to find a game without it :P

Reminds me of a bunch of games that I love put together in one... I think I found my replacement for any FPS out there :)

Because (don't take offense to this, having a big daddy like Microsoft to hold your hand will win any console battle any day because hardware does not compare to money) the developers spent time on the ps3 version (they even mentioned it in one of the early videos can't remember which one though)...you hear that THEY SPENT TIME ON PS3. I know it's unheard of but hey I have been waiting so long for something like this to happen (again no offense; talk about Black Ops and I start crying about favoritism I really will).

All I can say is this is what I have had to deal with for almost every multiplatform release, the good news is they will most likely fix it to around the same level in the end but it might just take a little longer.

Why does everyone conclude from the console reviews that the PS3 version is bad?
Really, all those reviews are based on the X360, which just has a real bad version of Brink.

Well I know the console versions are P2P and if the guy reviewing the PC version guys didn't get any glitches that might be a factor.

I mean I'd like to not have lag on the XBOX version, but that's just me.
