Having more than three equipment abilities

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 11:47 pm

Greetings:

I think that to fully enjoy the additions from Agents of Change and future updates, we need to be able to use more than three equipment abilities at once. It also seems fair for players who specialize in one class and are willing to spend the points to make it work to its full potential.

I voted no because I think putting the power of choice in a player's hands is important.

Besides that, it's technically "impossible" due to their being no more buttons to utilize a 4th ability on controllers.

Obviously not an issue on PC with ~103 keys at one's disposal, but the game has set itself to be "identical" across all platforms. Adding a 4th ability to PC only would contradict that.

PC and PS3 players cannot play together, so it could be added just for PC players without it affecting console users. Setting that aside, I am sure there could be an alternate way of selecting abilities for the console users.
Besides, the power of choice is exercised in buying the abilities. If it were a balance issue, it would be one thing, but limitations for one platform should not affect others. At worst, one might have to pay double for each ability after the 3rd.

voted no also just because it gives you a slight customization in what your person is.
ex. front line medic or support medic

You can have that without limiting your ability options. Just focus on one ability and do not use the others. Spend points elsewhere or not at all.

Before Brinks release the devs made a decision to limit players to three equipment abilities so as not to make certain classes have an advantage (Soldier, and Engineer) and to force players to choose carefully choose which abilities to unlock according to their play style.

Its the same concept as why you cant unlock every ability in an skill tree in most RPGs. Your ability choice defines how you play.

True, does it even do anything in-game? Never thought about pressing it lol...

But, 3 is enough... 4 would be a LIL hectic.. :flamethrower:
