I try to only buy games that I know Ill get a lot of gameplay out of. If I buy a game and only play through the single player campaign once and don't like the online mode much, then I consider it wasted money

Really diverse, Stalker, Risen, good classics like Jagged Alliance 2, Age of Empires, GTA2, Titan Quest but also Indies like Bastion, Mount&Blade, Audiosurf, Sanctum and blockbusters; Total War, Mass Effect, TF2.

Seriously I play everything I like, otherwise I wouldn't study Game Design :P

My favorite types of games are rpg's, driving (prefer simulation physics rather than arcade), and sports.

Among my all time favorites are the NCAA football series (PS2 versions), and Forza Motorsport 4.

I also enjoy some casual gaming on my iphone, such as tower defense, management / time killer. I also play some puzzle games on DS like Picross.

In an rpg, I look for wide open spaces and freedom, and/or tons of varied loot. I like Fallout also. I do not enjoy games such as Dragon Age, which greatly restrict where you can go and how you advance. I don't want to be "on rails" when I play an rpg.

I used to like shooters more then RPGs but recently that has changed.
TES/Fallout are my favorite RPGs, the open world and sense of exploration are the best.
I like the story in mass effect, but the length was too short and its completely linear making it boring after your done the story.

for shooters the best were on the original xbox by far.
Halo 1 and 2 were great
Battlefield 2 modern combat is probably my favorite shooter of all time
star wars battlefront 1 and 2 never got old.
recently shooters have seemed to go downhill but BF3 was ok enough

other then shooters and RPGs i enjoy RTS's the only one i like online though is starcraft. but the command and conquer series is a blast vs ai. homeworld is amazing as well.

I have such a wide variety of a game collection I could not possibly explain what I want. But I do want strategy rpg where you are a head butler of some rich aristocratic family.
