But I did end up trying it, since its browser based and I wouldnt have to put up with tedious download times only to find out that i hated it. From what I see, its a nice game, it's pretty enough and theres a huge list of ships and equipment for all to play with, but apart from that, I'm having troube getting into it. I find the ships are difficult to control at the best of times, some times they dont even go in the direction i'm telling them to go. if your unfamiliar or havent tried it, you click the right mouse button in the direction you wish to move, or you use the WASD to (obviously) go up, down, right or left. But compared to the SWG way of doing things i find it lacking. I prefer a more "FPS" style of aim with the mouse, pitch up and down with WS and roll with AD, but you can't even roll.
The tutorial was also lacking, it took me 20 minutes to figure out what I was supposed to be doing once it was over and I'im still not entirely certain. I have yet to encounter another player either, save for "Fleet Chat", but not in person or not in space, just NPC's so far.
I desperately want to like this game as the footage on youtube looks like it holds great gameplay potential, but the ability to pilot in a piloting game seems like a key feature, one that it seems to be lacking.
So has anybody else tried or is going to try this game? Any tips on how to get into it? I'm hoping there may be a way to use a joystick -- I used to use my PS3 remote with SWG and it worked perfectly, hopefully I might get simular results with BSGO so the piloting feels a bit more fluid.
