But what about if that didn't happen? Picture this - The film begins with you being introducted to a family, a mum a dad and sons and daughters, maybe just one, maybe one of each you pick. The whole film is about this family, you see them going to the shop, to the theme park you see them visit their relations and this is all set up so you fall in love with the characters, it makes them feel belieable, and if done properly this could probably happen all within an hour, but then it keeps going till about the hour and a half mark MAYBE 2 hours?
But then at the end of the film, one of the family members gets killed, maybe the mother or the father? They get killed infront of their family and you could probably throw in all kinds of emotional dialogue in this.. lets go with the mum for this scenario, if its the mum getting killed shes saying "help me" to her family, or whatever but ultimately she dies and then at the end of the film you see her family surrounding her crying their eyes out and then the credits quietly roll.
Now before you start flaming me for thinking of such an evil film, just think about it for a second.. we watch films to be emotional involved, we watch films to become attached to the characters whats better then if the films grounded in reality? It could even be recorded paranormal actiivity style if it helps with the effect, sure its a very sad plot and its unfortunatly not that different to what happens in real life, but I think it could really get the audience coming away in tears and surely thats what you want out of an emotional, engaging film?
Feel free to flame, I just wanted to know your thoughts on this and if a sad ending like this could be pulled off or is it just plain wrong?
Thanks guys.
