The Senioritis Thread

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 8:51 am

This is a big community, I know I can't be the only one who is in the second semester of 12th grade (or comparable level in other educational systems) and is ready to be DONE and on to the next phase, be it college or something else.

My grades have nosedived, I had a D in English last quarter. I just care about graduating and moving on, really.

Is anyone in the same boat as me?

I'm not.

Not sure what the point of this thread is either? Personal blog? What?

I'm older now so not it the same situation but I hope there's a way for your grades to turnaround.

Senioritis is a disease cooked up so seniors have an excuse to be lazy and get bad grades. If you allow your grades to suffer because you want to be done, it just shows you have a serious lack of self discipline.

This year I'm slacking, and I've been putting off my major's final project for far too long. That's not stopping me from getting good grades. Likewise my senior year of high school. I still do the work and I still put effort into it. That's sort of the responsibility of a student.

It's no big deal really. It wasn't totally laziness, I had a LOT going on (stage managing the musical which meant 5 days a week of rehearsal, trying to work, family criseses) In the debate between school and life, life won. If I outright failed this quarter (which I don't plan too because there's less work and less going on), I would still have a C as my final grade.

I dunno, the same thing happened to me when I did my A-levels. Various factors at work there, problems at home, new school with a bad work ethic, and I'd pretty much lost interest altogether so I coasted my way to just scraping through the exams with the lowest possible grades. Not one of my finest moments, but I guess the point is that less than ideal circumstances can erode one's motivation to succeed.

Less than ideal circumstances, certainly. But getting a D and justifying it with "Well, I'm a senior" isn't a good idea.

I'm not but if I were and had a D in English I assure you I would have my nose in a book trying to bring my grades up instead of telling folks on a gaming forum about it. I mean this is your last chance to learn a bit before the world gets much harder and the path more rocky. Good luck. Please do graduate.

Never really had senioritis. Took four advanced placement classes my senior year, got straight A's, and managed to lock down 40 college credit hours with my AP test scores. It was a good year.

Honestly, if you plan on going to college, you're going to want to get your act together . . .

I'm almost done with my Sophomore year of High School, I have absolutely no idea what I want to do when I get out. I know I'll being going to college, but I don't really have any motivation to try harder than I am (which isn't very hard), but I've kept my grades at A's and B's.

No, I'm done with high school. So now I'm focusing on getting a job and finishing college to get a degree. Which has been on hiatus due to some legal issues.

I never had the luxury of having Senioritis. My first two years in HS were spent ditching class and school, so my grades seriously suffered from it, Summer school was probably the only reason I was able to get through without being on the five (or six) year plan. By the time I got my act straightened out enough (Junior year) I had already finished all my elective courses, which meant that it was all required classes from there on out...and I had to pass all of them if I wanted to graduate on time.

With alot of hard work, I managed to bring my total (cumulative) GPA up from a flat F average to a solid C in those two years time. I only wish I had done that from the get go, so I could enjoy what all my classmates were able to enjoy...Senioritis. Sadly, I'll never know what it feels like...there is however, hope for another type of Senioritis I may be able to experience, I'm not so sure I want to go there though.

I had it in high school I think. Though my grades didn't nosedive and my attendance was up from the previous year. :P But there was a definite... lag... that I experienced. I have that same lag right now as a matter of fact. I want to be done with college but my grades are not affected, just my mental appearance which nobody but me can see anyways.

And here I thought we were discussion some condition of the elderly.

Back in the dark ages I did lousy in school (except for music, which for some odd reason I excelled at), but then I'm a certified imbecile and have piss-poor retention to boot, so have a legitimate excuse.
